I will have to admit yesterday was a "tear jerker" kind of day. First, I got word that one of my former student's dad had passed away. Second, my class had a special guest who will be going to Iraq in one week to serve our country. And third, something my sweet, big-hearted Katherine said.
For those of you who don't know, 2 years ago my niece, Marganie, was diagnosed with leukemia. Thankfully, she is in remission and is doing GREAT! When my niece was diagnosed, we followed her battle and progress on the Caring Bridge website. Our family also began following some of Marganie's friends websites that she met while in the hospital. One of the little girls we continue to follow today is Sarah Council.
I can't tell you how many prayers my little girls have said for her. Sarah has had so many battles that she has overcome, but she has recently taken a turn for the worse. You can read about her and her journey at www.caringbridge.org/visit/sarahcouncil. I encourage you to say a prayer for her and her family because they have been through and still are going through more than I can even fatham.
All that being said, Katherine got in the car yesterday after school and told me she had been thinking. "Momma, I have $9 and I want to use it to buy Sarah and her family gift cards for food. Do you think it will be okay if I raise $50 to send to Sarah?" Of course, I answered with tears in my eyes. As soon as we got home, she counted all her change and now she has come up with $10.83. She asked me for ideas to help her raise the money, and we have come up with many.
I am asking you if you would like to donate money for this cause or have a little job Katherine could do to earn some money, PLEASE let me know.
Please remember Sarah in your prayers and also thank God for all the things He gives us that we take for granted.
